Is your water running extremely hot or running out frequently?

It might be time for a new water heater or maintenance. Problems with water heaters could be a part has worn down, like a thermostat, or the water heater is older and the energy efficiency has significantly decreased. If you’ve moved into a new home or the number of people in your home has increased, the volume of the current water heater tank may not be enough.

What are common signs of water heater failure to watch for?

Aside from the obvious lack of hot water or scalding hot water, there are other visible and audible signs of a failing water heater to be aware of.

  • Visible corrosion on or around the unit itself
  • Water leaks, water damage from leaks
  • Finding rust in your water
  • Unexpected noises from the water heater

At Oregon Hydronics Plumbing, Heating & Air we will help you find the right water heater for your business needs, install it for you, and are available for any future maintenance.

Do you know how old your water heater is? If not, use the serial number on the unit to determine the approximate year it was made. Here is a resource from the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors that can assist you, or give us a call and we’ll find out for you!

Is your retail, industrial, or office space needing a water heater repaired or replaced?

Whether you are a commercial building owner or tenant looking to repair or replace your water heater, you’ve come to the right place. Over time a water heater becomes less energy efficient, parts wear down, and hot water volume needs change. There are a number of types of water heaters, with various volume levels, and our knowledgeable team is here to help.

Do you know if you have a gas or electric water heater?

If you are having gas hooked up to your home or already do, then it is possible you have a gas water heater. There would be a pilot light at the bottom of the tank if it runs on gas. While a gas water heater is more cost effective year over year, they often cost more upfront. Electric water heaters are more affordable to be installed and are more energy efficient. Having said that, many gas water heaters rely on electricity for its internal components to function if it does not have a continuous pilot light. These are just a few of the considerations before purchasing a new water heater.

Should you get a tank or tankless system?

A tankless system pulls cold water and heats it as needed, whereas a system with a tank holds a certain volume of hot water for you to draw from at any given time. Once a hot water tank is emptied, that’s when your hot water turns cold because the water heater needs time to fill with water and heat it up. Tankless systems, also known as on-demand or instantaneous, save homeowners money by not paying the cost to keep stored water heated until ready for use. However, a large household requiring back-to-back hot showers or running hot water to multiple appliances  could overload the tankless system.

Is your water heater ENERGY STAR certified?

At Oregon Hydronics Plumbing, Heating & Air we want to do our part in reducing environmental impact by preventing greenhouse gas emissions where we can by installing energy efficient units for our clients. According to ENEGRY STAR, certified commercial gas and tankless water heaters  “use around 15 percent less energy than conventional commercial units by employing more efficient heat exchangers”. When selecting a brand new water heater, we will check the unit specifications and recommend the most appropriate and efficient available model.
